hi everyone
we will talk here about Mentalray Satellite
how to setup and how to use...

A: How to Setup

First we have two kind of machines (server, salves)
the both should have maya setup on it.
and Mentalray Satellite too..

B: How to use

in the server (the machine you use)
you have to write a text file in >>
C:\.....\My Documents\maya\8.5\prefs
and name the file maya.rayhosts
not maya.rayhosts.txt this is wrong
and in this file you write the machines names
like this ....

MachineName:PortNum

render1:7106
render2:7106
render3:7106
render4:7106

*Note
maya 8 its port is 7105
maya 8.5 its port is 7106
this is very important

Common quistions

-can i setup more than one MR Satellite?
yes...but take care about ports

-can i render software using this satellite?
No...this Called (MentalRay satellite)

-what can i do to stop rendering with the salves?
you just close maya and open the hosts file
and erase all machines names and save it and
reopen maya

-is there any self-Exploding button..??
yesssss :eek2: there is...
you just open the file hosts and change the machine
names while maya running after you render
just one frame .
hehehe

i have a friend that made a program
that shows you the available machines
and you choose from it the machine that
you want and write the port you need
and click save and it writes the file down
to you...
i will call him and ask him if i can send it to
you to use it.... if he agrees i will upload it
and if not.... thats not a big deal...
you can write the file manually ....

B)
make a new file name it maya.rayhosts

C)
open this file with notepad and write the name of
the machine then (:) and the port number
like this Example ...

render1:7106
render2:7106
render3:7106

Hi all..
i asked my friend to upload this program
and he welcomed to send it...
coz he made it freely and he send it
to all people freely....

anyway this file doesnt need installation
you just run the EXE file and it will show
all machine in the network.

First go to
C:\......\My Documents\maya\X.X\prefs
and make a file text name it maya.rayhosts
ok....

second
open Mohannad satilite and browse
for this file (C:\......\My Documents\maya\X.X\prefs\maya.rayhosts)
that you have just created in step A.
and in the available machine section select
the machine and write the port you need
and click add
and do it again for adding another ones.

3rd
click save...

4th
open maya and in render global open
translation and in verbosity level select
progress...
this should show you the machines that is
MRsatillite uses in render.


*be aware of ....

-the ports numbers and maya versions
-every salve machine has maya setup on it
-every salve machine has MRsatilite setup on it

i forget to mention about render time


i was rendering a frame on my machine
was 30min. for 1 frame....
when i added 8 machines.... the frame has
been rendered in 2 min.....??????

نعود من جديد أخي حازم لهذا الموضوع الشيّق و المهم جدا في نفس الوقت.. فــــي
كل ما تكلمنا عنه سابقا هل هناك أمل في تنصيب البرنامج و الطريقة ككل على نظام
الـ Linux و بالخصوص على التوزيعة Ubuntu؟ لأنني أنوي الانتقال إلى النسخة الأخيرة
من Ubuntu خلال الأيام المقبلة بعد ما أنتهي من بعض المهام على الوينداوز XP.. هل
لك فكرة حول هذا الأمر و وفّقك الله في كل الأحــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــوال
